Michael Sordyl is a Financial Planner working with people of all ages. However, retirement planning is the major focus of his practice. Michael joined The Ashley Group in January 2006 and is licensed in the State of Ohio to sell life insurance and is registered as an insurance producer in many other states. Additionally, he is Financial Planner with the Financial Industry Regulatory Agency (FINRA) and maintains licenses in Series 7, 63, and 66, which allows him the ability to function as a general securities representative as well as an investment advisor representative. His financial practice includes the areas of financial needs analysis, retirement planning, estate planning, investments, life Insurance and long-term care insurance.
He completed the Certified Financial Planning (CFP®) curriculum and has been awarded the designations of Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®), Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®) and Retirement Income Certified Professional (RICP®).
In April 2013, Michael was recognized as one of the top 50 financial professionals nationally by the John Hancock Financial Network (JHFN*). He qualified for the ACE Platinum Award**, one of the highest honors bestowed on financial professionals within the JHFN. ACE stands for “Achieving Client Excellence”.
Michael is very active in the community and he currently serves as a part of Promedica’s Philanthropy Legacy Advisor Network. He also helps local charities with their wine auctions each year, most notably Mobile Meals of Toledo. He serves on the board of the Toledo Estate Planning Council and previously served on the board of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA) for a decade.
Michael attended the University of Michigan before starting a career in Information Technology which spanned some 30 years. He worked for various Fortune 500 companies including Burroughs, Owens-Corning Fiberglas, and Owens-Illinois in staff and management positions as either an employee or consultant. He founded Sordyl & Associates, Inc., which for 25 years provided analysis and programming support for business systems to Fortune 1000 companies throughout the country, including some international sites. The business served a wide range of companies, including manufacturing (ranging from process manufacturing to nuclear reactor plant manufacturers), banking, educational services, and insurance.
